PRODUCT - RANGE - DISTRIBUTION

Rationale:
What do you want to do and why? An overarching statement of the direction of your own design practice, areas of interest and what this will allow you to explore.. and why?

I want to look at different ways to put type onto paper, like screen printing or embossing. I want to be crafting and not sat in front of a computer screen for the majority of the project. I am interested to see how different methods of printing will affect the typeface it's self and how it may change the way it's communicated.
I want to look more into type and develop my knowledge and skills with typefaces and layout.
Categories and systems is something else I would like to include in my brief, I think it will be helpful when doing the 'range' part of the brief.

Statement of Intent:
What do you intend to do in order for you to fulfil your rationale, creative intensions and individual ambitions?

Product: A set of prints, in categories, in packaging, that can be transferred onto a range of different formats.
Range: Wrapping paper, cards, gift labels..
Distribution: I will produce a website, that the products will be 'sold' on.

I will produce a range of gift cards, wrapping paper etc.. which will be my own brand.. potential little business..

Brief

[here]

Research
In responding to this brief what areas of research will you have to undertake? What activities will this involve? What material will this research generate?

Primary: Collecting a range of gift cards, wrapping paper etc.. Experimenting with print and collecting unusual or interesting (and relevant) prints out and about.

Secondary: Research what 'fake' is, more research into layout design, card sizes, web design

Practical Development
In responding to this brief what practical skills, workshop facilities and production methods will you use? What activities will this involve? At what point in the brief will you use them? What will they help you to achieve?

I will be screen printing, using letter press, embossing, cutting.. I will be in the screen print workshop, either at Vernon St or Bleinheim. I will also be producing a webpage, so the Mac workshop that is ongoing will be ever so helpful.

Recording, Documentation & Evaluation
What methods will you use to record, document and evaluate your progress practical and contextual investigations in response to this brief? How will you get feedback? How and when will you evaluate your progress and what will you evaluate your progress against?

I will be using my Design Practice blog to keep documentation of my practical work and my Design Context for contextual investigations. I will be taking photographs of experimentations, but will also keep a book that will have  all the print experiments too.
I will get feedback off the year, especially in group crits and just generally anyone in the studio.. Also asking family and friends, see what they think.
I will evaluate my progress through my blog and have a final evaluation done for the deadline. I will compare my progress by looking back at previous briefs and see how much (or little) I have improved.
