In this After Effects session, we looked at animating the words typed in, not from illustrator or photoshop.

BOUNCE

BOUNCE from natalie jackson on Vimeo.

I wanted to make the word turn green when it got itself in the right order.. I tried looking at a tutorial, but couldn't work it out.. it's something to do with masks.. Though in our next After Effects lesson, we will be covering this, so I will try again once I find out how to do it!!

FEW MORE EXPERIMENTS

CRUNCH from natalie jackson on Vimeo.

CRUNCH AND BOUNCE from natalie jackson on Vimeo.

With this composition, I wanted to do something else after.. However, I think this would be good if I had the word Disperse too.. then it would be all three together..

Maybe I could go back and make the 'O' not disappear, but bounce on the rest of CRUNCH and expand the 'O'...

EXPERIMENTS WITH AFTER EFFECT

Just experimenting with after effects, after being introduced to it:

Looked at doing 'bounce' in different typeface and different colour.. however I don't think this movie shows 'bounce' very well.. maybe more towards then end.

ANOTHER BOUNCE EXPERIMENT from natalie jackson on Vimeo.

I was trying to work out how to do something similar to this movie. Couldn't work out how to make the C close and open.. however, I have managed to do a 5 second movie where this happens.. JUST NEED TO FIND MY USB!!

A few screen shots of the after effects layout..

The 'crunch' image at the bottom worked really well.. BUT i lost my USB stick, and I haven't got it anymore.. :(

STORY BOARDS DEVELOPED

After producing storyboards by hand, I have used illustrator to see what the storyboards would look like on screen.
I was also able to change the colour and the font, which gave me more ideas and gave the storyboard a bit more life:

STORYBOARDS

I really like this idea, and I think I will be able to do it on after effects.. I think it's a really good way of showing 2 words at the same time.. without making it look too busy..

After doing the storyboard session, I found that drawing out loads of storyboards really helped with generating loads of ideas.. also, when it comes to getting onto the computer and working on after effects, its helpful to have the drawn out frames next to you, so you can just get on with it..
