COMMUNICATION IS A VIRUS:

This is the final pack that we produced. The belly band is what keeps everything together, though we wanted to look into using a draw string bag, that would be perfect for young children, as they need it for PE kit, and just re-useable for anything, which would mean that it is always seen and remembered.

Slightly changed the board. by making the frame more of a dense scribble and changed the cups to just blue outline and cyan text. Think this works better.

Board Game idea:

We decided to change the colour to cyan and yellow, as we wanted the poster to be more vibrant and eye catching, so we then changed the game board layout.

Poster layouts:

I used the line drawings as a rough outline to where the image would be set..
When I was laying out the type and image, I was thinking about how it needs to be really simple. Children will notice the image and easy, clear writing.

When writing the 'oscar says....' we decided that the sentences needed to stay more positive, rather than having 'don't use mobiles..'
So the sentences now read..'instead of using...'

The idea of having a frame around the poster came up. So quickly experimented with this idea in one of the posters.
I think it gives the image and type a place, instead of looking like they are floating in nothing.

Poster images: OSCAR the owl, african drum, message in a bottle and the playground:
Aaron drew up the images on photoshop, as we decided that this kind of style worked best.
The blue and orange works really well together, and I think that it is a bit different to just having the primary colours, as this is a bit too obvious.

We decided that we needed a character for the campaign, as children would respond to it more, rather than an adult informing them.

..

In this brief, I am partnered with Aaron.
We decided to do the 'get people to communicate/talk more.'

After sitting down and throwing ideas about, we came up with targeting young children, and try to stop them from using mobile phones and social network sites so much.
After researching this, we found that it is an actual problem, and children are in danger, safety wise and health wise.

We want to target this campaign at the younger side of primary school, as this is where the problem starts. We found that children are getting mobile phones at a younger age too, which is also hazardous to their health.

VISUAL LANGUAGE: what is line?

With the photographs from the london eye, I've made a film.. showing different areas as we climbed, then back down again.. very haphazard, look at different time lengths:

Film showing movement:

Printed off small thumbnails of the photographs, to try and get them in a system.
photos from the london eye, so I tried to go from left to right, and in order of height we were at.

could be interesting to put the photos on a film, and as they flick through you could see the small changes.

On the london eye: took 80 photos going around.
Examples:

Some photographs of lines in london:

Shops are in a line. Looked at taking pictures of the floor in front of buildings or places.
could have a street and have a line of shops with photos of the floor.
Looks quite interesting, with just a word above.

With the photographs that I have already taken, I really like the ones that are just of the floor, and I think it would be really interesting to take pictures of the ground, in different places, inside and outside.

From the pictures, there are different textures too. Maybe look at using materials in project.
What words come to mind? what noises are in that place.. something that would link in with the photograph?

Idea:

[Below]
Photographs of the day.. close up images. Unsure of where I am.
I need to have more photographs, to bulk it up a bit.

I don't think it's as interesting as I want it to be.
Need to categorise it more through the week.
Look at specific objects that are in lines.. throughout the day?

Primary Research:
Wood- lines in the wood= timeline.

BOOK FAIR

Cyan and Magenta layered for one side of the book.
All the prints are slightly different, as they don't line up properly, as I wanted them to.
However, this may give a different feel to the book. A bit more unique.

I like how the prints have turned out, and I like the colours I have chosen, as I wasn't too sure about them to start with.

For the book fayre: need to produce 20 hotdog fold books.

Here are the ideas for the book. I have created patterns using the letter 'A'
I would like to use screen printing, and use 2 colours. Cyan and Magenta. As they will also mix to make a third colour, purple.

The black page is the back page. Which will be stuck onto a cover, as I am going to make hard backs, shown in book binding. Giving the book a better quality to it.

Below: the layout in line drawing.

Negative images:
First= Black will be Cyan
Second= Black will be Magenta

With a hotdog fold, the book opens out, and the back becomes a poster.
This is the poster idea. I am going to print it off and colour the negatives in.
I think I will use 2 different colours for the poster. However, this is still undecided.
